The classic, free route: head to a public pitch. Munich has public pitches and football cages in almost every district – in parks, at schools, on open ground. Artificial turf or asphalt, open to all, no booking needed. The downside is always the same: you have to bring enough people, or you're standing at the cage three-a-side.

Soccer5 & indoor football

If you've got a steady crew, Soccer5 is the easiest option: 5-a-side on a small artificial pitch, usually indoors, so weather-proof. The pitch is booked by the hour and split across everyone – surprisingly cheap per head. Perfect for the regular after-work kick. Bookable Soccer5 and football halls exist across the city and surrounding area; you'll see free slots online at each provider.

Pickup & casual football: just join in

No fixed crew? Then it's about joining open games. Platforms for casual football like einfachkicken or Spontacts list open games you join – you add yourself to the participant list and you're in. It works, but often without a level filter or reliability: who shows up and how good the game is comes down to luck.

The real problem: enough people at your level

Cage, hall or pickup – in the end it all hinges on getting enough people together who are free at the same time and roughly the same level.
